Absences

The schools current target for attendance is 96%

Illness

If your child is poorly please ring or text 0793842883 before 9.30 a.m. or email Mrs. Spafford at h.spafford@stpeters.bradford.sch.uk.  This is important not only so we can record your child's absence but in case there are a number of children off with the same illness.  When your child comes back into school they need to bring a note in with them.

If no message is left then the school will contact you sometime after 9.30 a.m.

Medical appointments

If your child has an appointment please bring them in to school before and after the appointment.  Please show the appointment card/letter to the receptionist at least 24 hours prior to the appointment.

Please arrange for dental and doctors appointments out of school hours.

Holidays

The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time.  Any application for leave must be in exceptional circumstances and the Headteacher must be satisfied that the circumstances warrant granting the leave.

Parents can be fined for taking their child on holiday during term time without consent from the school.

If a child is taken out of school without permission for more than 20 days the child will be removed from the school roll and lose their place.  Or if permission for leave of absence has been given and the child fails to return to school within 10 days of the agreed return date and no valid reason is given they will also be removed from the school roll.

Penalty Notices

The school will request that Children's Services issue a penalty notice to any parent who:

  • takes their children out of school after an application for leave of absence has been refused by the school
  • take their children out of school without first requesting permission from the school
  • take their children out of school for longer than the number of days authorised by the school
Penalty Notice fines of £60 are issued per adult per child (e.g. father and mother taking 3 children out of school without permission will face a fine of £360).
